(CBS) Cubs reliever Carlos Marmol has been accused of abuse by a 24-year-old woman in the Dominican Republic, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The Tribune cites a report from the the Dominican newspaper website ListinDiario.com.
According to the report, Miledys Mejia Cepeda filed a criminal complaint against Marmol, but no police charges have been filed. Marmol’s lawyer, however, says the pitcher will file a counter complaint, accusing the woman of extortion and blackmail, the report says.
