MONTECRISTI, Dominican Republic. - President Leonel Fernandez on Sunday headed a political rally with Héctor Rodriguez Pimentel, recently called “pathologically corrupt” by the Justice Ministry’s Anticorruption Department (DPCA) director Hotoniel Bonilla, for his numerous scandals in two government agencies.
Fernandez said with the backing of followers of the late president Joaquin Balaguer the ruling PLD party’s candidates “will steamroll in the next elections, so progress continues in this region and the entire country.”
He praised Rodriguez Pimentel for heading what he affirms is the constant growth of the Balaguer “movement” around the country, and said he feels pleased for being in Montecristi and observing important works his Administration builds. “We are receiving the confidence of its residents, a situation which will give the victory to all our candidates.”
Rodriguez Pimentel, whose tenures in the agencies which manage dams and canals (Indrhi) and potable water (Inapa) were marred with scandal, said the rally reaffirms the commitment of the Balaguer followers to work with the PLD leader and win the May 16 elections.
