Jacques Thibodeau sustained about 20 stab wounds to the body late Thursday night during an altercation with a prostitute, according to the Diario Libre newspaper. One of his lungs was punctured during the fight, causing doctors to fear for Thibodeau’s life.

But a spokesperson for the Caribbean nation told La Presse that his injuries are no longer life-threatening.

According to an article published in Diario Libre, Thibodeau hired the prostitute, who allegedly stole his wallet while leaving his apartment. He was attacked after confronting her about the theft.

SANDO DOMINGO ESTE.- Una mujer de nacionalidad Estadounidense fue muerta la noche del domingo cerca de un bar de la avenida Venezuela con Octavio Mejía Ricart del ensanche Ozama.

Según la Policía, con relación al hecho fue detenido Kelvin Junior Hernández (Barbita) de 34 años, quien mató a Sandra Valente, a la cual asaltó en las inmediaciones de un centro de diversión del referido sector.

Máximo Báez Aybar dijo que al prevenido se le ocupó un revólver Taurus, calibre 38, cuya procedencia se investiga y una cadena que momentos antes había arrebatado a la hoy occisa.

El informe dice que la agresión ocurrió cuando Ramón Darío Reyes esposo de la dama se separó de ella para ir al baño.
